William is an experienced broadcaster who has appeared on such shows as BBC's Start The Week (twice), Radio 4's Saturday Live, The Today Programme and appears on such TV networks including BBC News, Sky News, CNBC and CNN.

He has also been a guest speaker at many literary festivals including the Oxford Literary Festival, Cheltenham Literary Festival, the Blenheim Literary Festival, How The Light Gets In (Hay-on-Wye), the Henley Literary Festival and the Graham Greene Literary festival. He was the keynote speaker (with biographer Dr Lara Fiegel) on Graham Greene at the Achill Literary Festival in Ireland.

He is also the founder of the Upton Cressett Literary Festival and the Upton Cressett Literary Foundation, ( www.uptoncressetthall.co.uk) a writing retreat in a 16th century Shropshire gatehouse for established British and international authors and playwrights which also offers the Philip Kerr Fellowship.
